Women’s Track & Field Competes Well at Milwaukee Tune-Up with Top-10 Finishes

Freshman Essence Wisdom posted an eighth-place finish in the shot put at the UWM Panther Tune-Up

CHICAGOIn its final preparation for next week's Great West Conference Indoor Championships, the Chicago State women's track and field team tallied nine top-10 performances Friday at the annual UWM Panther Tune-Up at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee.

 

Garnering two top-10 recognitions for the Cougars were freshman Tosin Idowu (McDonough, Ga.) and senior Esther Lee (Irvine, CA/Santiago Canyon College) (Irvine, Calif.). Idowu finished fourth in the 200-meter dash at a time of 28.22 and placed fifth in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best time of 8.21, while Lee captured seventh place in the 200m and finished ninth in the shot put.

 

Sophomore Neshia Robertson (South Holland, IL/Thornwood) (South Holland, Ill.) placed fifth in the 400-meter dash after recording a time of 1:04.42, while junior Jasmine Allen (Chicago, IL/Olive-Harvey Middle College) (Chicago, Ill.) followed Robertson in the race by finishing in sixth place thanks to a personal-record time of 1:09.84.

 

Freshman Amber White (Locust Grove, GA/Ola) (Locust Grove, Ga.) earned an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles after producing a PR time of 9.92, sophomore Markesia Taylor (Chicago, IL/Sullivan) (Chicago, Ill.) finished 10th in the mile run with a personal-best time of 6:27.64.

 

Freshman Essence Wisdom (Joliet, IL/Joliet West) (Joliet, Ill.) recorded a throw of 33-0.25 to place eighth in the shot put after advancing past the second round of competition.

 

The CSU women will make its return to Vermillion, S.D. for the second-annual Great West Conference Indoor Championships at the DakotaDome on Feb. 26-27.
