Women’s Track & Field Sets More Personal Records at Iowa State Classic

Tosin Idowu recorded a pair of personal-best times in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Iowa State Classic

CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's track & field team recorded more successful times at the Iowa State Classic, held at the Lied Recreation Center in Ames, Iowa on Feb. 12-13.

 

Freshman Tosin Idowu (McDonough, Ga.) notched a pair of personal-best records in the 60-meter dash at 8.27 and in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.28 for the Cougars, while sophomore Neshia Robertson (South Holland, IL/Thornwood) (South Holland, Ill.) recorded a PR in the 800-meter run at a time of 2:29.32.

 

Freshman Amber White (Locust Grove, GA/Ola) (Locust Grove, Ga.) recorded a personal-best time of 1:04.70 in the 400-meter dash.

 

Junior Jasmine Allen (Chicago, IL/Olive-Harvey Middle College) (Chicago, Ill.) notched a PR time in the 800m, and sophomore Markesia Taylor (Chicago, IL/Sullivan) (Chicago, Ill.) also posted a personal-best time in the 800m at 2:50.27.

 

Sophomore Triejaye McDowell (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) (Chicago, Ill.) improved on her time in the 400m and freshman Simone Christmon (Chicago, IL/Carver Military Academy) (Chicago, Ill.) posted an improvement in the 60-meter dash, while freshman Essence Wisdom (Joliet, IL/Joliet West) (Joliet, Ill.) set a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 32-3.75.

 

CSU's 4x400-meter relay squad of Robertson, White, Allen and Idowu recorded a time of 4:26.37 in the event.

 

“I am very proud of the effort that each of the ladies put forth in setting their own personal records,” said CSU head coach Diana Muhammad. “We have a tune-up meet upcoming in Milwaukee. As we move forward to the Great West Conference Indoor Championships, I expect to place in the top half.”

 

CSU returns to action this Friday with the Milwaukee Tune-Up Meet at UWM's Klotsche Center.
