Heritage Park has been a fun destination over the past few years as a flurry of teams particularly from the northwest Chicago suburbs used this meet to end the regular season and welcome the post-season.

The varsity girls started ahead of the boys and Barrington quickly moved forward of the field on the strength of sophomore star Scout Storms. Storms indicated last Wednesday at the Naperville Twilight Invite that she was going to compete at the Wheeling Invite. True to form, Storms busted out to a massive lead with the first mile in 5:40. The Barrington pack followed just over 6:00.

The Fillies continued their assault on the field through the second mile, rolling away from the field. Storms passed the checkpoint in 11:40 and her lead swelled to over 40 seconds. Barrington would easily win tallying 27 points and now they head into the MSL Championship on a positive note. Storm took the title in 17:18 with a smile. Glenbrook South's Maggie Jortberg (Sr) and Kaitlyn Burns (Fr) took second and third in 18:26 and 18:36.

Barrington boys duplicated what the boys as sophomore Joe Bregenzer and his mates hit the path ahead of Hersey whose team was watered down. That didn't stop the Broncos from using this race to prep for the MSL Championship.

Bregenzer and several others were just under 5:00 for the first mile. Bregenzer continued to stride on and later separated from the field by the second mile in 10:09. The Broncos' fifth man was around 10:45 and it was all but over.

Bregenzer won the race in 15:16 and Avery Erickson (So) and Manasyu Chaudhari (Jr) took second and third in 15:32 and 15:39.
