Mt. Prospect (Prospect) High School has long been a haven of terrific distance runners on the boy's and girls' sides. More recently, it has been the girl's program at the forefront in terms of statewide notoriety and production. It was last spring that the Lady Knights trotted home the 3A state championship in the 4x800 relay. And during the fall, head coach Pete Wintermute's crew was runner-ups to York in cross country. Things appear to be coming together...

Enter sophomore Lily Ginsberg. Though she could be categorized as the team's best runner, she definitely has fallen into the order of team first. She was on that state championship 4x8 and recently anchored her mates to the fastest indoor time thus far with a 2:16.9 carry. However, her individual accolades cannot be dismissed. She took 11th in the cross country finale with a time of 16:58. How about the 5:09.06 that she clocked as a freshman? Though she only ran 11:13 for 3200m, it was only one quantity. Ginsberg is gradually adding to her portfolio and to the legacy that is Prospect HS.
