2022 MileSplit IL Team Power Rankings-Week 1

-Last year's top finishers opens the season exactly how they ended it. The defending state champion Griffins hold off their conference rival Homewood-Flossmoor after these early season performances. Reigning 100m state champion and Purdue signee Mariam Azeez leads the classification in the 60m, long jump, and is highly rated in the 200m. Her teammate Sophia Barnard is no slouch either as her hurdle exploits lead the state. The Griffins so far have laid out a full team effort as the road to a title defense is underway.

Homewood-Flossmoor will ride the legs of Iowa signee Alexandria Edison, who is rated high in four events (60, 200, 400, LJ). The supporting cast of Daija Brown and Angela Alozie will help the Vikings case as well as the swap of basketball sneakers for track spikes once state champion Ana-Liese Torian returns.

Prospect has contributions from all event groups. Led by Audrey Ginsberg in the distance events and Daria Tersina on the track and runway, the Knights will look to piece things together throughout this indoor season and look to surprise many pundits.

Grayslake Central was a rankings mainstay last year, this year Mia Morello (PV & 60h) will carry a bigger load while getting help from strong relay units.

Batavia and Huntley were neck and neck for a top-five spot, ultimately the Bulldogs prevailed. Katrina Schlenker will hold down the distance events for this squad while gaining contributions from all relays. Huntley has reigning long jump state champion Alex Johnson and her sister freshman triple jumper Dominique Johnson who happens to lead the nation's freshman in that event. Look for the Red Raiders to build around the exploits of Johnson and Johnson.
