Hayden Knott (St. Joseph-Ogden)- One of the state's top discus throwers (actually IL#3 176'2.25") has come a long way from throwing 150' as a sophomore two seasons ago. Expect Knott to tussle against a very strong field that contains five of the top ten throwers in the state. Standing in the way will be the likes of Garrett Taylor (Salt Fork), and Luke Hatten (Lebanon). All of these titans are capable of clearing 170-feet at any given time.
In the shot put, things could be a bit more stressful for Knott and Hatten who have been locked together in terms of effort. Maybe a 60-foot effort is in store for Knott but finishing the season undefeated in both disciplines is more important because it would mean two state gold medals.
