Lauren Doerr is someone you should know even though track and field isn't her first love and will not compete in the sport beyond high school. The senior speedster from distance rich Morton is slated to return to her soccer roots via a scholarship at Butler University. Before she heads out into the sunset, look for Doerr to win her first state titles in the 100 and 200. Doerr ran 12.46 at sectionals, which was well off of the 12.11 that she torched the track with earlier in the season.
Doerr will be in the "championship section" and will tangle with Dominique Thomas of Woodstock Marian. That appears to be an underrated match which will surprise some fans.
