Drew Rogers Named IL Boys Gatorade XC Runner Of The Year

Pandemic or no pandemic the consensus on Drew Rogers was that he was the man to beat virtually or in the flesh. The Herscher junior came off of an impressive sophomore in cross country which netted an unexpected state title but unfortunately, the track season was shut down due to Covid-19.

Summer 2020 offered a glimmer of hope as a few outdoor meets were on the docket. Rogers ran a nice PR in the mile of 4:17.68. He was able to carry that into the fall and really make a name for himself. It was there that Rogers breezed in every competition that included a pair of 14:38 three-milers. He was untouchable in the 1A ranks.

Though he was not able to compete against his counterparts in the other classification, Rogers earned the respect from his peers and he is ready to take the mantle as the state's elite distance runner.

Congrats to Drew on his fine accomplishment!
