PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior cross country runner Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after finishing 12th at the sixth annual Bradley Classic.
Nowak posted her third top-15 finish of the season, turning in a 6K time of 22:08 to finish 12th out of 180 competitors at Newman Golf Course. She helped Bradley to a second-place finish, marking the Braves best-ever team finish in the event. A mechanical and bio-medical engineering major, Nowak boasts a 3.97 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Nowak and the Braves return to action Oct. 31 when they serve as host for the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championships. The MVC Championship is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Newman Golf Course.
