Riley Ammenhauser give her full take on her double jump wins

CHICAGO, IL- Gately Indoor Track & Field Center has been the epicenter of hot action this winter. Riley Ammenhauser has certainly taken advantage of the opportunities inside of the friendly confines. The University of Michigan signee from Naperville (Neuqua Valley) HS has leaped 40-5.5 and 19-0 marks in the triple jump and long jumps respectively. Both are in the No. 1 position statewide and nationally Ammenhauser is arguably the best combo jumper.
Saturday, she entered as the favorite in both events and jumped away as the winner in both of course. Along the way were some post-collegiate competitors to keep things honest. Former Romeoville HS standout and Lewis University All-American Cierra Pulliam took the open division with a 40-11.25. Pulliam, who has jumped nearly 43-feet, has aspirations of getting the Olympic Trials standard had a lot of fun.

Sydney Weaver (Jr., Chicago Kenwood) keeps plugging away at the number #1 speedster spot in the state. She clocked 7.86 in her 60m prelim and followed up with a 7.83 in the final- IL#2. Later she 26.46 to take fourth in the 200m. That time is good for the third-best in the state.
Boston area native Katharine Duren representing New England Elite Track Club had already held the 60H record from her trip several weekends ago. After just missing adidas All-American status last weekend, Duren snapped! She cruised in the prelim with a 8.63. But in the final, it was no contest as she blasted away from the field that featured two of the state's elite competitors Jasmyn Hunter (Homewood-Flossmoor) and Victoria Spagnola (West Aurora). Duren roared out of the blocks and lashed through the finish line in a career-best 8.50 and US#4 mark (US#1 is 8.41). Duren returned later to win the 200m in a personal best 25.43.
Rachel Forsyth was not happy with her second-best 3200m performance on Friday night. So upset that she didn't want to speak with her father Ian about it. The outstanding freshman from Ann Arbor, MI would make amends in the 1600m. It was a tactical start that would not create any separation, not even on the penultimate lap as Aly Negovetich (Grant), Allison Chmielewski (Roscommon, Mi), Annie Christie (Carmel, IN), and Mary Grace Hegberg (St. Viator) were all there. Forsyth was a pit bull hell-bent this time. She was not letting go of the lead and it was all the way through the finish line with the dramatic finish win in 4:57.79.
