Tori Thomas (Rock Island Alleman HS) is no stranger to good pole vaulting as she has been a two-time state runner up. Thomas was on her way to becoming a threat on the national level after eclipsing 12-10 during the indoor season. The mark was an IL#3 performance at the time and it appeared as though she was on her way to the 13-foot club. Thomas showed prowess in open events as well, earning all-state honors with a personal best in the 100m with a solid 12.44.
Thomas recently traveled to the Houston, TX area to compete in the MAC Vault Academy Championships. Thomas battled a group of elite competitors that fought to the tilt as she was among a group fighting to clear 13-foot. Thomas would ultimately place third overall.
