Desert Dream Last Hurrah Opening Bell Thoughts

-----------------------------

SAN TAN VALLEY, ARIZONA-

Coming into the Desert Twilight Last Hurrah Invite, there was some trepidation, fear, uncertainty, and even criticism. Some of it is a legitimate concern because this country has been on a sporting lockdown for months which means without a very careful plan, attending something such as a track and field meet could turn into a disaster. From all reports from meet management and the Poston Butte High School superintendent, they were very impressed with how the protocol was handled.

As for the athletes in attendance, there appeared to be happy and excited to compete in a real environment.

One athlete in particular who came out to play was Gavin Schurr of Fairview HS in Colorado. He won the 100 and 200 in impressive form: 10.56 and 21.47- both in wind-legal time but importantly, a sense of exhaling of a very trying time period.
