* Katelynne Hart was the lone high school athlete in an established field in Boston on Saturday

Buried beneath a herculean effort from American distance star Jenny Simpson on Saturday was another from a promising young athlete from Illinois.
Simpson, an Olympic medalist and World Champion, was dazzling at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, winning the women's 5,000 meters in a No. 3 all-time American effort of 14:58.65, a performance that currently ranks No. 1 in the world right now.
But not to be forgotten was ninth-place, the final finisher in that incredibly fast first section. Glenbard West's (IL) Katelynne Hart finished in 16:09.56, which ranks No. 4 all-time in the high school history books.
And it was her first entry into the 5,000 meters on the track as a high school athlete.
It also marked Hart's first race of 2020 after a busy cross country season that saw her win her fourth straight Illinois state cross country championship, qualify and finish in her fourth straight Nike Cross Nationals and score a fourth-place finish at Foot Locker Nationals, her third top fop effort overall. She was on MileSplit's all-decade third team.
Hart, a University of Michigan signee, is the No. 4 ranked recruit in the Class of 2020.
