Proviso West Valentine Relays Ready To Kick Off Fast Times

Date/Location: February 15; Proviso West HS; Hillside IL
Start Time: 9:00 AM; girls precede boys
Relay Events: 4x200m 4x800m 4x400m
How to follow: #pwvalentines20
What to look out for: Although we will be one day past the actual date the meet was intended for, there will be a tremendous amount of love in the air for relays. Event winners will receive a bouquet of flowers along with smiles that should last quite a while.

Boys-

4x200: There are eight sections and it would be a good one in the final one as defending champion St. Rita of Chicago loads up for the first time against host Proviso West. We could see a near #1 state clocking if the stick gets around the track nicely.

4x800: The seed times are not particularly stout, but then again this will be the first time the majority of the teams first time on a track. The always good Lyons Twp squad is seeded #1 at 8:20. The Lions hold the meet record of 8:10.23. That may hold up for another year.

4x400: It may take all nine sections before we see a winner. Proviso West, Metea Valley, and
Dekalb have seed times between 3:30-3:32. One of these teams may walk away with the #1 spot in the state after tomorrow.

Girls-

4x200: Kenwood pulled out of the meet so the battle for the roses may go to the host Proviso West. The Lady Panthers have a young but talented cast. However, Niles North is back after a tremendous year in the 4x200. Will they have enough in the tank to break their meet record 1:45.03?

4x800: The meet record by Lane Tech is 9:37.65 appears to be safe but some team could get close to 10:15. Chicago Jones is seeded first followed by Payton and Mundelein.

4x400: Proviso West is the favored here seeded at 4:15 by three seconds.
