Preview by Tony Jones: There were 19 teams that went under 8:00 last year which was lower than usual. Of the lot were just three in the top 50 nationally led by Naperville Central's 7:45.03. It now appears on the surface that the sea level has risen with maturity and with that we should expect to see some very fast marks from top to bottom.
Last year's state runner-up St. Charles East may have graduated some key parts but one would think after producing a dominant cross country season, the Saints will have more than enough to go around for this distance fueled event.
York is everyone's team to watch. The Dukes return all four legs back from a season-best 7:51.23. This storied program has not won a state title since 2007- the 13 year drought is the longest in school history.
If there is any squad that can stop a York invasion it's Batavia. The Bulldogs return three legs and produced a sizzling 7:46.79.
