2020 Class A Girls Pre-Season Sprints Preview Shows Depth

100m
2019 State Champion: Alyssa Busker (Sr., Aurora Christian) 12.04w
Key Returners: Busker, Halle Rueter (So., Nashville), Olivia Sturrup (Sr., Milledgeville), Tyrah Taylor (Jr., Chicago [Hope Academy]), Mara Bruno (Sr., Seneca), Ayanna Dunklin (So., DuQuoin), Nariah Parks (Jr., Belleville [Althoff Catholic]), Brianna Sarver (Jr., Pana), Sierra Bryant (Sr., Bismarck-Henning), Shianne Dejear (Jr., Christopher Community), Emma Ginther (Jr., Abingdon), Kamryn Kolb (Jr., Bureau Valley), Chloe Moyer (Jr., Meridian)
Outlook: It will be difficult for the girls to match up to Alyssa Busker, who crept onto the scene late in the 2019 season with just one loss (handed out by "Cinnamon Dajour Miles of West Aurora) and dominated her peers by winning the state 100m and 200m crowns. Now as the state's fourth best-returning performer regardless of conditions, Busker will not be a surprise to anyone as she appears to be healthy and removed from a hip injury during sophomore year.

Olivia Sturrup placed 3rd at state in 2019, making her the second-top returner. Sturrup and Halle Rueter, after blowing us away with her freshman season, are likely coming into the new decade with their eyes on a state title. However, it's been over six months since we've last seen these girls race, and it will all come down to who will emerge towards the end of the season.
