Former Lake Zurich great Matt Pereira is coming into his own at Harvard University

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Harvard men's and women's cross country teams have qualified for the NCAA National Championships next weekend in Terre Haute, Indiana after winning the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. on the campus of Buffalo University. The performance marks the first regional championship for both the men and women, as well as the first time that both Crimson teams will compete at nationals in the same year.
The men were ranked fourth and also were victorious over a pair of ranked opponents, No. 18 Syracuse and No. 8 Iona.
Junior Matt Pereira placed 20th (10k- 29:20.6) to earn All-Region honors.
