The Glenbard West Regional emphasized the power of running as a team and left much anticipation to see what the advancing teams can do at sectionals. Although Camera Park is only an unusual 2.88-mile course, the hills and muddy conditions made it just as mentally tough as a full 3-mile race.

Glenbard West super senior Katelynne Hart closed out her home race career with a dominating performance that pitted her far in front of the pack and ultimately to a time of 15:57- breaking the old course record of 16:09 and leading the Hilltoppers to a regional title over Wheaton Warrenville South 41-43.

The Tigers were led by Sam Poglitsch and Kaitlyn Nenninger placed second and fifth with times of 17:12 and 17:36.

York's first 5 runners were all in the top 15 with strong performances from Katelyn Winton and Lydia Hickey in 17:57 and 18:01 respectively. Wheaton North, Willowbrook, and Glenbard East also advanced to sectionals.

In the boys' race, Wheaton-Warrenville South was all business to claim the first place spot over York 25-31. With the majority of the Tiger's team being seniors, they appeared to come in with a sense of urgency, William Hauenstein and his mates pushed the pace together for much of the race in getting a strong decision against the Dukes. Hauenstein was the individual titlist in 14:36.

Daniel Klysh of York led their team with a 14:46 while their top 5 team spread was only 21 seconds apart. Wheaton North took third place over Glenbard West, even without their top runner Josh Gorup who is expected to run next week.

Glenbard East and Glenbard North both advance to sectionals as North's tie for 6th with Lake Park was decided over the 6th runners finish.
