Vernon Hills Girls Workout Wednesday

For the past five years, the Vernon Hills girls cross country team has consistently been ranked top three in the state for 2A and is looking to qualify for the state championship for the eighth year in a row. With a mix of talented veterans and freshmen, we wanted to see what made the Cougars so special. MileSplit Illinois joined the team for a speed workout tune-up session the Wednesday before Regionals. We were able to take a deep dive into the team's work ethic, culture, and beliefs.

The workout consisted of a 1.5 mile warm-up, then 3 sets of (2x200m with jog recovery and 1x400m with full recovery) followed by a one mile cool down. As the girls taper and get focused for the postseason and ambitious goals for state, all of the girls must bring their A-game to practice each and every day.
