SchoolJesuit, CA

Year: Class of 2020

AnalysisJesuit's (CA) Matt Strangio had some of the strongest 3200m performances on the preseason boys MileSplit50. The rising senior ran two sub-9-minute 3200m performances: The first was an 8:47.97 from his win at the Dublin Distance Fiesta and the other was an 8:57.69 from the CIF State Track and Field Championships. He placed third at state in the 3200m and won the 1600m, running 4:08.07. He only lost one 1600m race during the entire 2019 track season when he placed second to Redwood High School's (CA) Liam Anderson at the Stanford Invitational. On the cross-country course he's done some big things as well, including winning the Division 1 Boys CIF State Cross Country Championships (15:04.50) and placing eighth at NXN (15:10.50). He is the fourth-best returner to NXN but has already told MileSplit California that his goal is to win NXN and break four in the mile this year. Strangio will hands down be one of the top guys to keep an eye on this season.
