MileSplit IL Summer Training Journal: Exhibit Josh Methner

Josh Methner details his great experience winning his first harrier title last November in Peoria

The rising senior from Hersey has been a mainstay on the state since his freshman year. Methner, who was one of the top middle-school runners in 2016, has not disappointed his teammates or pundits. As a first-year runner, he clocked 14:53 (3miles) to place 30th in the state meet. In most seasons that would yield an all-state berth. However, Methner over the next two season continued to improve as a harrier- clocking 14:30 and 14:11 marks respectively. In addition to topping his state brethren on the grass, Methner won his first track title in the 3200m in May. Overall, he was able to beef up his resume with 9:02.54 and 4:13.76 personal bests.

Methner recently traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona with a group of teammates. Josh and company got in some quality training as well see the sights. Methner was also kind of enough to share a portion of his summer running journal.

ENJOY!
