Although some sectionals were greatly contested and fast, there was also injustice going on. Illinois is a very big state with multiple classes and not are on the same day. The weather fluctuates so much during the spring and Mother Nature seems to be upset with us all. Perhaps, in this new day and age of sports, it is time to go modern and get the best and deserving kids to state. An at-large process would do the deed well. It is time to read this outstanding article and -------> FILL THE LANES AT STATE!

Here are thoughts on the subject of athlete inequality represented by empty lanes for state prelim meet:

Too many issues with that at this level. We would have way too many bogus 4x2 and 4x4s to get quality lanes then have their studs run opens. And distance runners qualifying in everything then scratching events at state. Then what is deemed a qualifying meet? Just #fillthelanes

For the girls' meet, it seemed like numbers were WAYYY down. Especially noticeable during 1A prelims. #FillTheLanes

Empty lanes are like nails on a chalkboard for me..... Makes me cringe, gives me a headache, just really bothers me.... That's one thing the IHSAA does pretty well in Indiana #FillTheLanes

I tweeted this last year as evidence that we needed to FILL THE LANES at state by having at-large births (4x9 in lane races, 3x12 in long races, 36 qualify per event). Too many quality 3A athletes are left out while we run Sectionals in crazy conditions. twitter.com/pntrack/status...

#FillTheLanes is not a rip against 1A. All three classes would qualify 36 milers. 36 in 4x1. All three classes benefit from the proposal, no one gets hurt. Most important, *Fill The Lanes* is kid-centered.
