2019 Class 2A Boys Pre-Season Relays Preview

4x200m-

2018 State Champion: Chicago Heights Marian Catholic (Brent Fitzgerald, Jalen Frazier, Darly McIntosh, Josh Smith) 1:27.57

Key Teams: Morris, Eureka, Olympia Fields (Rich Central), Prairie Central, Chicago (St. Rita), Cahokia, East St. Louis, Triad, Peoria Notre Dame

Breakdown:

Despite a bevy of graduation to some of the top teams' personnel, the usual protagonists will be on hand. They start with E. St. Louis Sr and Cahokia. It was a rarity that one of these storied programs did not make the final. The Flyerettes were denied an opportunity to compete in the state series because of a fighting incident at a conference meet. The palate to behave and keep emotions on the track should produce favorable results. As for the Comanches, they appear to be reloaded and ready to make a run for times and titles. They should be as potent as their rivals 1:28.62 this year.

Morris enters the year looking to be a major threat in the 4x200m this year. The speedy quartet for state last year without their stud runner, Nic Davy, who opted for the open 400m. The Redskins return all four members from that relay and if Davy decides to help his team in the 4x200m, they may be unstoppable this year.

Chicago St. Rita will look to contend with Morris this year as they also return all four members of their state qualifying relay. The key for the Mustangs is health and getting the baton error-free around the track in crunch time. Rich Central and its ace Sean Tyler are back again to do battle with the best of them.
