2019 Class 2A Boys Pre-Season Relays Preview

4x100m-

2018 State Champion: Chicago Heights (Marian Catholic) (Brent Fitzgerald, Jalen Frazier, Darly McIntosh, Josh Smith) 42.27

Key Teams: Sterling, Fairbury (Prairie Central), Rockford (Boylan Catholic), Columbia, Dolton (Thornridge), Triad, Cahokia, East St. Louis Sr, Chicago (St. Rita), New Lenox [Providence Catholic]), Freeport, Olympia Fields [Rich Central]

Breakdown:

This will be another year of producing fast times. Thornridge, Triad, and Cahokia are teams that had quality anchor legs to finish out their races last year. Thornridge is returning three members of their team that qualified for state including sub 11.00 Century man Davon Bolden.

Triad and Cahokia return their entire units and they will see one another several times during the regular season. Triad was young last year as their team consisted of a freshman, a sophomore, and two juniors. Experience is the name of the game and with senior Johnnie Caswell providing maturity, the times will be much faster than 43.60.

Cahokia had a heartbreaking DQ in their state prelim, costing themselves an opportunity to strut their usual stuff. Senior Darreon West is expected to lead the quartet that has a penchant for top-rated performances.

Don't forget about East St. Louis Sr. who always seem to find a way to run as fast anyone in the state without top dog individual speedsters.
