Class 2A Girls Relays Preview: New Faces Are Ready To Shine

Rich East and Springfield Southeast will once again be a premier team in this event

4x100-
2018 State Champion: Dunlap 47.25
Key teams: Rich East, Chicago Lindblom, Springfield Southeast, Carbondale, E. St. Louis Sr., Rich South, Monticello
Season outlook analysis: No Dunlap means the nightmare that Rich East experienced in the closing stages of last year's state final will go away. The legendary anchor girl Kiara Pauli produced one of the most exciting finishes in IHSA history when she ran down Dareale Sykes with 30m remaining to win in epic fashion. Sykes returns but could be moved out of the #4 spot in place of Myah Sherman who is the team's top sprinter. But if there is a team that could be just as good if not better is Springfield Southeast. After enduring some maturity with the quartet that featured two underclassmen, the Spartans will have super seniors Serena Bolden and Raven Moore on deck. Some may disagree here, but we could a sub 47.00 by the end of the season. E. St. Louis Sr and Lindblom are good squads with quality personnel back on the scene.
