2019 Class A Girls Relays Preview

There were many people in the crowd surprised by the finishing outcome

4x100-

2018 State Champion: Manlius (Bureau Valley) 49.78

Season outlook analysis: As expected it was supposed to be a good one, tighter than most fans thought it would be in last spring's final. St. Joe-Ogden was the favorite all season. The Spartans burned a classification best 49.41 in the prelim. Bureau Valley had positive vibes of their own with a prelim heat win. The wet track at the start of the race was the great equalizer because 4x1s are like open 100s, starts are more important than the race. And getting the baton around the track clean is another element that must be mastered. The emerging O'Brien Stadium crowd was on its collective feet when St. Joe-Ogden had a sizable jump on the anchor leg. It would be two freshmen dueling to the finish line. Kamryn Kolb ran down Atleigh Hamilton for the win. Both teams should be back at it again with nearly all of their personnel in tow. Warrensburg-Latham may be called into play along with Peru (St. Bede).
