2019 Class A Girls Field Events Preview

Long Jump-
2018 State Champion: Atleigh Hamilton (So., St. Joe-Ogden) 18-2
Key returners: Capria Brown (Jr, Danville [Schlarman]), Paige Knuffman (Jr., Liberty), Kamryn Kolb (So), Manlius (Bureau Valley), Jaelyn Robertson (Jr, Cowden-Herrick), Jaden Christian (Jr, Reed-Custer), Brittney Oakley (Jr., Warrensburg-Latham), Alyvia Woodard (Jr, Milledgeville), Shianne Dejear (So, Christopher), Dakota Krone (Jr., Pinckneyville), Faith Frye (Sr., Casey-Westfield)
Outlook: Atleigh Hamilton as it turned out at the conclusion of last spring's state championship, was not your average freshman. In addition to winning the jump crown in a personal best, she anchored three sprint relays to all-star status (4x200 champs). The field overall should see improvement as 10 of 13 state finalists are back- three of those jumpers surpassed 18-feet. Kamryn Kolb and Brittney Oakley are prime targets to challenge for supremacy. Capria Brown took third at state last year and must factor in things. One other girl to consider is Faith Frye. She had the best indoor season winning the Illinois Top Times title but missed out on the spring spectacular. It should be a different outcome at the end of the season.
