Grant Jensen (Jr., Prairie Central HS) 800m

-We have heard rumblings of the name Grant Jensen for a while now, he finally decided to bust out at the state meet. Next year's top returner took 4th place in the 800m at the 3A State Championship with a 1:54.29. Grant then ran a new PR of 1:53.10 at Festival Of Miles to take 3rd place. Grant is definitely one of the favorites to win state next year, could we possibly see grant go sub 1:53 at New Balance?

Marne Sullivan (Jr., New Trier HS) 800m

-This is an interesting name to see on this list. Marne had a very good track season, becoming an All-Stater in the 800m and 4x400m. The weird thing is that Marne won only one outdoor 800m this season and it was at the CSL-South Conference Championship. With Marne only winning one race it may be a smart move for her to go to the front early so she can learn how to lead better as that may be the reason she didn't get many wins in the 800m this season.

Karyn Best (Sr., Wheaton Academy HS) 400H EE

-Another great athlete that came into the season as a favorite to dominate, but ended up not winning it at the state meet. Best was the favorite to win the 2A 300H state title as she was the defending champion, but the newcomer, Jessica Franklin of Mahomet-Seymour, came in and took it from her. Watch for Karyn to try and redeem herself with a great showing.
