Q) Talk about the recruitment process - what other schools were you looking at, and how did you come to choosing Duke?

It was definitely a memorable experience. I really enjoyed visiting all of the schools, meeting the teams and coaches, and getting a feel for the life of a college athlete. Along with Duke I also visited BYU and Weber State. I eventually settled on Duke because of the tremendous academic and athletic opportunities. It really just felt like a place that I could excel. Both Coach Ogilvie and the team are very passionate about what they're doing and I decided that that was a culture I wanted to be a part of. And of course having a few familiar faces over there doesn't hurt!

Q) What do you plan to study at Duke?

As of now I am planning on going into economics.

Q) You've had success in everything from the 800 up, what are you planning to focus on at Duke?

I'll likely try out a few things while I'm there. I'm not so sure I specialize in anything in particular so part of the process will probably be figuring out what the right event for me is. I'm open to running wherever I'm needed.

Q) Could you share any goals you have for the upcoming track season?

Without being too specific, as usual we're going pretty hard after the 4x800 this year. I think that's always a fun event for us because of the team aspect. Individually, my goals are ultimately centered around improvement, ending my high school career on a high note, and leaving my legacy as a teammate at Mountain Vista.

Q) What would your favorite high school moment be?

That's a tough one. Really everything about this last cross-country season was memorable for me but especially winning a state championship and getting onto the podium at Nike Cross Nationals with my team. Those were goals that we had been working towards for a long time and it was an incredible feeling to finally accomplish them. Especially after being disappointed with the previous season, it was an awesome moment with the guys on the team because I knew how hard they had all worked.
