Nike Cross Nationals: Let's Meet The Midwest Individual Boys

Dustin Horter (Sr., Lakota East HS; Liberty Township, OH)- We could call Mr. Horter a streak buster this season. But that would not be a great description of him since he has only lost once this season. But for the sake of argument he avenged an early season loss to fellow Buckeye state foe Zach Kreft, who at the time dropped the US #1 5k sizzler in 14:29. Horter would stop Danny Kilrea of Lyons Towship, IL who raced for real and put an L on his resume. Horter also stopped Michigan champ Shuaib Aljabaly and his unbeaten season at the Midwest Meet of Champions. Horter will now be put to the test in Portland. He is certainly better now than last year when he finished 30th. The field is going to be exceptionally deep with the likes of US#1 Brodey Hasty of Tennessee laying in the weeds. Horter is US #2 and rightfully so. If he is as patiently as he was with the Midwest field, we could see a top 3 finish out of Horter.
