Sarah Schmitt and Alex Morris has been as a dominant pair as there in the United States
For the first time ever an Illinois girls cross country team gets the nod as US #1 team. As of today they deserve the top spot after beating all teams in their path including a pouting Great Oak, CA and their coach Doug Soles at the Griak Invite last month. Soles seems to think his team should be #1. He may get that opportunity at the Nike Cross Nationals in December.
After a dominating performance at the Naperville Twilight Invitational, the Huskies were elevated from the #2 perch. This team has everything from two frontrunners to tough pack running and a killer #5 closer. Sarah Schmitt (Sr.) and Alex Morris (Jr.) finished 2nd and 3rd with lifetime bests of 16:37 and 16:39. Both runners are rated among the elite week 2 Power 10 runners.
