Class A Preview: St. Joseph-Ogden Boys Matches Spartan Girls For #1

A new season brings new opportunities as well as new challenges. They also bring delight as well as trepidation. If you recall, it was Shelbyville that earned the pre-season bullseye #1 last year. They wore the crown for several weeks and slipped throughout the season. Ultimately, the Rams did not make the state meet. St. Joe on the other hand opened at #6 and place 8th. Key returners: Wyatt Wolfersberger (12), Isiah McCune (11), Braden Pridemore (12), Austin Rein (12)

Newcomers: Riley Baker (12), Cailer Kellenberger, Brandon Mattsey, Gabe Preston (9)
Coach Retz's thoughts on team:  "It should be an exciting year.  We will have several people fighting for those top 7 spots including several very talented freshmen.  Losing Justin Phillips (Drake University) is a big loss, but several are ready to take over that top spot including returning All-State Runner Wyatt Wolfersberger.  He has had a great summer and will be ready to go when the time counts."
