Editor's note: After a long dynasty by Lincoln-Way East it appears as though one of the most hotly contested state finals in girls history is about to take place like World War II. It is going to be that fierce among the top four teams or so. In fact, we decided to let our Artificial Intelligence pick the winner. But the human element will the last say on Saturday. The Flyerettes will look to add another big time trophy to the school coffers. Legendary coach Nino Fennoy is still that guy to lead the way after 40+ years. Upstart Homewood-Flossmoor has a ton of firepower led by senior Jaimie Robinson. The Vikings also have some solid underclassmen ready to make a name for themselves. Glenbard West has a tremendous underclassman of their own in Katelynne Hart. Ms. Hart has dazzled the distance running scene since the beginning of the school year. She has a cross country state title as well as an all-american honor a fleet of dominating performances. She is favored in two events (1600/3200) and the 3200 relay is incredibly strong. Naperville North is a team who could be like a vulture and steal the show. Several things must happen for that to happen. The Huskies must hold serve and score as many points in the distance running area and 4x8 relay. Senior Haile Bieber must score very high in the 300H. The flip of the coin is that Homewood-Flossmoor and E. St. Louis will lose key points along the way.
