Sam Sikon at the University of Illinois for the Gene Armer Invite
We all have been spoiled the last four years with absolutely great performances in the field events. The now former Cahokia HS icon Ja'mari Ward's legacy will stay intact for eternity because he elevated the sport with great performances and a sparkling personality. It is going to be a long time before some jumps 26' and 53' whether collectively or in piece meal form. Ward leaves Illinois ranked #1 all-time in stats and actual production as a jumper. His legacy rates him as US#6 all-time in the triple jump and #9 in the long jump. Now we are in a new era and hopefully the foundation is still strong. There appears to be lean times ahead in several events but who knows. But as it goes in the field events arena we all will have to see what happens indoors and outdoors.
