Morolake Akinosun is properly pronounced "More- La- Kay" "Ahh- Keen- No- Sun."

This is probably the slowest you will associate anything with Ms. Akinosun, who has always been fast, in case you did not know.

She completed a steller prep career at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora where she was the top indoor sprinter in the United States during her senior year. Akinosun blazed the track with the 10th fastest ever 55m in 6.76. She would later equal the all-time Illinois 100m record of 11.41 -- the same time that Chicago Morgan Park HS legend and fellow Texas alum Alexandria Anderson ran.

The next two destinations for Akinosun were the University of Illinois and Texas, where she earned multiple All-America honors and improved her 100m PB to 10.94.

We spoke with Akinosun about her background, college career, becoming an Olympian, and her nascent professional career.
