Richard Spring Boys Invite Preview: Goliath vs. Goliath

Look for Irwin Loud to lead a portion of this race for his Oak Park team

In last weekend's individual affair at first Peoria trilogy installment called the First To The Finish Invite, it was a fast one from the gun. Buffalo Grove's Kevin Salvano and several others hit the first mile in 4:41. That was a caveat to a lot of guys running the second mile (leaders though in 9:39). Many were able to hold on and run fast times. Salvano and Evertsen ran the US #1 and #2 in 14:22 and 14:25. Those times could get a serious challenge regardless of the course conditions. It is expected to rain hard in the Peoria area.

Jon Davis (Sr., Oakwood) is the top harrier on paper based on his running resume over the past season. He had a tremendous track season competing in mostly class A competitions. When Davis has reached outside of Class A he has done well. "The overall goal is to win and set a PR. I feel I'm in 14:10-14:15 shape," said Davis. He and someone like Irwin Loud (Jr., Oak Park-River Forest) will push the pace very hard. Loud loves to front run and that is the type of activity that will challenge what has already been produced.

Kern, Keeble, Horn, Brian Sodaro (Sr., Maine South), and Heath Warren (Sr., Springfield) will threaten sub 14:30 status for sure. Don't leave off Jared Borowsky (Sr., Stevenson). He won the Detweiller at Dark with a time of 14:47.
