Sophomore Lindsay Payne gave Glenbard West fans some hope with a nation-leading, 16:40.1 run for three miles on Saturday morning.

The win came after a Friday night announcement from the team staff that top returning runner and defending Illinois state cross country champion Lindsey Graham will not compete this fall due to injury. The run is a strong indicator of improvement for Payne, who ran 17:23 for third in this event as a freshman last fall. She went on to place fifth at the state meet and ran PRs of 5:09/10:56 this spring.

Glenbard West took second in the team standings behind Minooka, 72 to 75. Flo50 #20 ranked Palatine placed fourth overall.

Sophomore Blake Evertson of Hinsdale Central ran 15:00.20 to win the Boys Varsity section, which is the nation's No. 7 time for three miles this season.
