Zack Smith Blog: Mustang Relays!

Well Monday night is the night !  For most of the indoor season, a lot of us have been waiting for the Mustang Relays.  The race on Monday night should really start to give the state an idea of which relays will be coming out on top in May.

North Central College and Downers Grove South always do a fantastic job of hosting the meet, and they have turned it into one of the premiere meets in the state, despite there only being three events.  One of the reasons that the meet is so prestigious is the elite field of teams that will be there.  Every event is stacked with the best teams in the state.  I am very excited to compete against some of the best 4x800s in the state tomorrow night.

Despite the many other fantastic meets, Mustang Relays possibly has the best atmosphere of any meet all year.  There are so many people packed into that field house that there is no lack of adrenaline when you step to the line.  The fact that you are competing with and for your teammates also amps up the intensity of the race.  Every team will be throwing down the four best guys that they have because there are no other events for them to worry about.  You know that you will get every team's absolute best in an environment like North Central College.  I know the DGN 4x8 is prepared for tomorrow and is excited to get after it!  Overall, it should be a fun night with some great racing.  Well, I better get at least a little bit of sleep here before the big day, thanks for reading, and I'll check in next week!
