    It has been a rough start to the season for the Richwoods boys track and field team. Sprinters Kendrick Foster and Nick Parks and hurdler Clayton Glasper all have been out with injuries this week. Foster has a hip flexor injury, and hopes he’ll be ready to run Saturday when the Knights compete at the Ottawa ABC meet.   • Mattoon's 4x800 Charleston's Abolt Among Track Meet's Highlights

    It’s not very often that a record is blown twice in a row. Sarah Bell of Bloomington and Jessica Melchi were too busy fighting for first place in the pole vault, but fans around were reacting in cheers as both broke the Charleston Indoor Invitational pole vaulting record of 11 feet, six inches. Bell eventually set the new record by pole vaulting 12-0, while Melchi finished with 11-9. Belleville West took the Class AA title with 88 points. (via JG-TC.com)

  • Leo Track Running Despite Hurdles

    In sports, it’s about numbers. Leo High School won their latest track and field state title last May by one point. This marked the school’s sixth state championship. When Leo won its first state title in 1981, it became the first Catholic school to take the top trophy in track and field, and no other Catholic school in Illinois has done that since then. (via Chicago News Cooperative)

  • The Fit Runner - Episode 3: Heel Pain

    In the third episode of The Fit Runner our host is Dr. Giddeon J. Lewis, foot and ankle specialist, and Chairman of the MileSplit Medical Advisory Board. Joining Dr. Lewis to talk about "Heel Pain" are professional triathletes Jarrod Shoemaker and Alicia Kaye, along with University of Central Florida athletic trainer Jennifer Perez.
