Complete USTFCCCA Top 25 Rankings
May 11, 2011 - The North Central College men's track and field team remains the No. 2-ranked squad among NCAA Division III teams this outdoor season, according to the most recent rankings released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings released Wednesday.
The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The Cardinals amassed 158.26 points in this week's installment of the rankings. McMurry University (Tex.) maintains its position as the nation's No. 1 team, securing 192.51 points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is third this week with 147.88, followed by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with 134.00 and College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin rival Augustana College, which jumped up 13 spots to fifth this week with 111.13.
North Central won its 33rd CCIW Outdoor Championship last weekend, finishing 41 points ahead of Augustana at the Vikings' home facility. The Cardinals won five events and established two new meet records.
The Cardinals host the Gregory Invitational on Thursday and Friday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
