Titan Track Teams at Monmouth Quadrangular

The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's track teams competed with three other teams at the Monmouth Quadrangular on April 26 in Monmouth, Ill. Against the host school, Western Illinois and Knox, the Illinois Wesleyan women had four individual winners while the men featured two winners in the meet that had no team scores kept.

Junior Caitlin Eskew was the winner of the 100 meter dash with her time of 12.52 seconds. Sophomore Lauren Rock won the 400 with a time of 58.32 seconds and junior Lauren Alpert was first in the long jump at 18 feet-2 ½ inches.

The IWU women's 4x100 meter relay team was first in 48.94 seconds and the Titans took the top three spots in the 200 meter dash, led by junior Shavantay Thomas (25.01 seconds), Eskew (25.57) and junior Jessica Christy (25.78).

Sophomore Tara Clemens was second in the 400 with a run of 58.85 seconds while freshman Emilee Seevers and junior Brooke Bernardoni tied for second in the high jump at 4 feet-11 inches. Bernardoni also got second in the 100 in 12.70 seconds.

Sophomore Taylor Cordes was second in the 100 meter hurdles (16.35 seconds) and third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:08.94) while freshman Chloe Staub was second and senior Maggie Byrne was third in the 5000 meter run.

IWU men got two of the top three spots in two events – junior Bobbie Rachford was first (17:00.82) and senior Mike Czajkowski was third (17:54.52) in the 5000 meter run while freshman Aaron Smith (1:55.56) and sophomore Kevin Kapolnek (1:55.99) were one-two in the 800 meter run.

Senior Alex Lambert was second in the pole vault at 14 feet-5 ¼ inches and senior Darien West collected second place finishes in the hammer throw (168 feet-9 inches) and the shot put (42 feet-9 inches).

Senior Noah Dunham was second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.04 seconds and freshman Nick Heller was second in the 3000 steeplechase in 11:11.80.
