Complete USTFCCCA Rankings
Apr. 13, 2011-- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its second National Team Computer Rankings of the outdoor season on Wednesday with the North Central College men's track & field squad ranking seventh.
The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The 2011 indoor national champion Cardinals sit in seventh place after securing 106.15 points while College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Augustana College is one spot back in eighth with 94.49 points. McMurry University (Texas) remains the nation's top squad, securing 208.53 points. 2011 Indoor runner-up Central College (Iowa) is second with 136.14 points while the University of La Verne (Calif.) is third (123.37 points).
The Cardinals won six events at Saturday's Chicagoland Outdoor Championships, securing the team title for the third consecutive season. North Central tallied 190 points, outdistancing runner-up University of Illinois-Chicago by 76 points.
North Central returns to action today, competing at the Wheaton College Twilight Invitational. Field events are scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. with running events slated to start at 5 p.m.
