Motz Wins Weekly CCIW Outdoor Field Honor

Senior thrower Kyla Motz (Colorado Springs, Colo., Pine Creek HS) was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's outdoor "Field Athlete of the Week" April 5 as she threw a school-record 149 feet-9 inches in the hammer throw at the DePauw Invitational. That topped her personal best by 7 feet-2 inches and currently ranks No. 1 in the CCIW.

Motz is a political science major at IWU and the daughter of Eulee Motz.

North Central seniors Amanda Laesch and Mike Spain, along with Augustana senior Pat Zeunik were also named CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

Laesch won the 10,000-meter run at North Central's First Chance Invitational with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 35:41.35. This was also a school record and places her second on the NCAA Honor Roll. She also won the 5,000-meter run with a provisional time of 17:33.05.

Spain won the 10,000-meter run at North Central's First Chance Invitational. His time of 29:37.82 was a personal best and currently leads all of NCAA Division III.

Zeunik won the triple jump with a school record and NCAA automatic qualifying leap of 49-6 ½ at the Wartburg Select over the weekend.
