NCAA Division III Indoor Championship Results
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Mar. 11, 2011)-- The distance medley relay highlighted North Central College's efforts at day one of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, placing seventh to earn All-America accolades.
The Cardinals' DMR squad of
Kala Bingham (1,200-meters),
Lauren Brightmore (400-meters),
Krista Cota (800-meters) and
Amanda Laesch (1,600-meters) overcame an early deficit to place seventh, clocking a 12:04.40 and earning All-America honors.
Sheila Walsh placed second in her heat of the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 57.68. Her time was good for ninth place, one position shy of advancing to Saturday's finals, missing the cut by three-hundredths of a second.
Kayla Murphy finished fourth in her heat in the 55-meter dash preliminaries and tied for 10th overall, clocking a time of 7.26 seconds.
North Central is tied for 22nd after five events contested with two points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh currently leads the competition after day one with 17 points.
The sixth-ranked Cardinals have three competitors remaining on Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) with
Carolyn Kalafut in the pole vault.
