IWU Men Place Fourth in CCIW Indoor Track Meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's team finished fourth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin indoor track championships, held Feb. 25-26 at IWU's Shirk Center.

The Titans accumulated 85 points, behind CCIW champion North Central with 245.5 points, Augustana with 155 points and Carthage in third with 95.5.
North Central won the CCIW indoor title for the 11th straight year since the conference began indoor track championships in 2001.

Illinois Wesleyan men claimed three of the top six places in the 800, led by senior Noah Dunham in second with his time of 1:55.32. Aaron Smith was third at 1:56.15 and junior Tyler Saunders was sixth with 1:57.19.

Dunham, seniors Aaron Ball and Mike Burgess and freshman Zach Morrison were the third place 4x00 relay team with their time of 3:22.11.

Freshman Joey Pacione got fourth in the triple jump with a length of 44 feet-7 inches, Ball got fifth in the 400 in 50.37 seconds and junior Max Lustick got seventh in the mile run (4:20.84) and fifth place in the 3000 (8:42.63).

On Friday, senior Darien West got first and junior Steven Kirk got second in the weight throw, both with NCAA automatic qualifying marks. West had a distance of 61 feet-11 inches while Kirk was at 60 feet-9 ¼ inches.
The IWU men also got first in the distance medley relay with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 10:10.31. The relay team consisted of Saunders, Dunham, Lustick and Ball.
Junior Adam Harrison finished third in the pentathlon with 3175 points and senior Alex Lambert got a fourth place finish in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet-10 inches.

The men's track athlete of the meet was North Central's Dan Benton and the field athlete of the meet was Alex Stake of Augustana. The North Central coaching staff took the top coaching honors.
