Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Tara Clemens was chosen as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Indoor "Women's Track Athlete of the Week" on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Clemens (Bloomington, Ill., HS) won the 800-meter run at Illinois Wesleyan's Keck Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 5, clocking an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 2:12.82, which is currently ranked first in the CCIW.

A physics major at Illinois Wesleyan, Clemens is the daughter of Doug and Kathy Clemens.

Carthage senior Mindy Harrington, North Central's 4x400-meter relay team and Augustana senior Pat Zeunik were named as the other CCIW Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

Harrington placed second in the weight throw at the Keck Invitational, throwing an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 18.31 meters, which is also a new school record. Harrington also placed second in the shot put with a distance of 14.41 meters.

The North Central 4x400 relay team of Jon Howard, Bai Kabba, Jon Caron and Dan Benton won at the Squig Converse Invitational at Wisconsin-Whitewater with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:17.97. That time was only 75 seconds slower than North Central's 4x400 winning effort at last year's NCAA Indoor Championship.

Zeunik won the triple jump at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday with a school record and NCAA automatic qualifying distance of 49-4. He also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 22-8 ½.
