Titans' Alpert Named CCIW Trackster of Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan junior Lauren Alpert was named the female track "Athlete of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Tuesday, February 1.

Alpert (Park Ridge, Ill., Maine South HS) won the 400-meter dash at the Titan Open on January 29, clocking a time of 57.39. The time was a lifetime best and is currently ranked first on the 2011 Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).

A psychology major at Illinois Wesleyan, Lauren is the daughter of Patti Alpert and Martin Alpert.

North Central senior Michelle Criscione was named CCIW Indoor "Field Athlete of the Week" while North Central senior Dan Benton and junior John Wood were named the CCIW male indoor track and field "Athletes of the Week" for their performances at the North Central Quadrangular on January 28.

Criscione won the high jump, clearing a provisional qualifying height of 5-5 ¼. She is currently tied for ninth on the NCAA honor roll.

Benton tied his own facility record in the 400-meter dash, winning with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 49.15. His time currently leads the TFRRS list.

Wood won the pole vault, finishing with an automatic qualifying height of 16-8 ¾.
