Track Teams Open With Winners in December Dual

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's track teams opened their 2010-11 indoor seasons with solid performances against Millikin University in the December Dual on Friday, Dec. 3 at the Shirk Center. No team scores were kept.

Darien West was the only Titans double winner in the meet, claiming the shot put with a throw of 13.47 meters and the weight throw with a distance of 18.18 meters.

Five other IWU men took first place honors - Aaron Ball in the 300 meter dash (35.9 seconds), Noah Dunham in the 800 (1:58.1), Max Lustick in the 1200 (3:13.2), senior Wally Farris in the 3000 (8:58.9) and Alex Lambert in the pole vault (4.51 meters).

Seven first place finishes were earned by the IWU women's team, including Caitlin Eskew and Olivia Semeria tying in the 200 meter dash with times of 27.8 seconds.

Also getting first places were junior Lauren Alpert (300 meter dash, 40.3 seconds), sophomore Tara Clemens (800, 2:18.6), Elise Anderson (3,000, 10:41.3), Taylor Cordes (55 hurdles, 8.8 seconds), junior Gaby Johnson (high jump, 1.57 meters) and senior Kyla Motz (weight throw, 14.85 meters).

The women's 4x400 meter relay team got first with a time of 4:01.4 and the men's 4x400 team placed first with their time of 3:24.4.
