UW-Oshkosh Brooks Cross Country Invitational - Women's Results

WINNECONNE, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's team was 13th of 36 and the men's team was 17th of 37 at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Cross Country Invitational, held on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis.

The Titan men's team had 483 points and senior Wally Farris finished 42nd of 575 male runners with a time of 25:29. Also in the top 100 for IWU was Max Lustick at 82nd with his run of 25:56.

With 49 points, North Central was the men's team champion, followed by Calvin College (Mich.) with 78, New York University with 138, Washington University (Mo.) with 146, and UW-Stevens Point was fifth with 150. The men's individual winner was Michael Spain of North Central at 24:22, followed by Michael Burnstein of Washington U. at 24:39, and Nate Stymiest fron UW-Oshkosh), 24:42.
A total of 37 men's teams took part in this year's UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational, including nine ranked in the top 25 of the NCAA Division III by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Leading the list of NCAA Division III entrants were top-ranked North Central College (Ill.), second-ranked Washington University (Mo.), seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point, eighth-ranked Calvin College (Mich.), ninth-ranked New York University, 10th-ranked UW-Whitewater, 14th-ranked Augustana College (Ill.), 22nd-ranked UW-Oshkosh and 25th-ranked Grinnell College (Iowa). Also in the field of teams were Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.), the 19th-ranked squad in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The Titan women's team collected 432 points as Elise Anderson was the low finisher, coming in with a time of 22:59, good for 50th place of the 499 women competitors. Senior Liz Ave Maria was 65th with a time of 23:12 and Lorin Biosca was 96th with her run of 23:45.

The University of Minnesota-Duluth was the women's team champion with 89 points, followed by UW-Oshkosh (116), University of Chicago (116), Calvin (117), and Hope (142).

Morgan Place from the University of Minnesota-Duluth was the women's individual winner with a time of 21:00, followed by Chicago's Elizabeth Lawton (21:14) and Christy Cazzola of UW-Oshkosh (21:18). 

The women's division of this year's UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational featured 36 teams. Among them were 10 squads ranked in the top 25 of the NCAA Division III by the USTFCCCA. Highlighting the group of NCAA Division III participants were fourth-ranked Washington University, seventh-ranked UW-Oshkosh, 10th-ranked Calvin College, 13th-ranked Hope College (Mich.), 15th-ranked University of Chicago (Ill.), 26th-ranked UW-Stevens Point , 30th-ranked New York University and 34th-ranked Emory University (Ga.). The University of Minnesota-Duluth, ranked seventh in the NCAA Division II by the USTFCCCA, and Olivet Nazarene University, ranked 25th in the NAIA, also took part in the meet.
