WHEATON, Ill. - For the second straight year, the Illinois Wesleyan women's track team is the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin outdoor track and field champion, senior Amanda LaRocca, who won four events, is the women's "Track Athlete of the Meet" and the IWU women's coaching staff won the CCIW women's "Coaching Staff of the Year."

At the meet held in Wheaton, Ill., May 7-8, the IWU women amassed 245 points to win the CCIW title for the second time in school history. North Central was second at  214.5 and Carthage was third (113.5), followed by Wheaton (78), Augustana (71), Millikin (68), Elmhurst (18) and North Park (8).
The Titan men collected 26 points and finished sixth. Augustana was the team champion with 262 points, barely topping North Central with 260. Carthage (145) was third, followed by Wheaton (61), Millikin (30), IWU, North Park (20) and Elmhurst (14).

LaRocca won the 100 meter dash in 11.98 seconds, the 200 meter dash in 25.23 seconds, the 100 meter hurdles in 14.55 seconds, and the long jump at 18 feet-8 ½ inches, while finishing fifth in the high jump at 4 feet-11 inches.
Senior Mackenzie Clemens was a double winner, claiming the 800 (2:16.40) and the 1500 (4:47.02).
Senior Ali McCoy won the 400 in 56.83 seconds and was fifth in the 200 (25.91) and eighth in the 100 (13.58).
Chinny Ekwulugo was the champion of the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet-5 ½ inches.
Senior Kerry Devitt, who was second in the 10,000 on Friday, got two more second place finishes on Saturday – in the 1500 and the 5000.
Sophomore Shavantay Thomas was second in the 200 (25.35) and third in the 100 (12.13) and sophomore Lauren Alpert was second in the long jump (18 feet- 1 ¾ inches), third in the 400 (58.45), fourth in the 200 (25.80)
Senior Emily Hagen was third in the high jump (5 feet-2 ½ inches), sixth in the hammer throw (123 feet-11 inches), and fourth in the javelin throw (115 feet-1 inches).
Junior Kyla Motz was third in the shot put (40 feet-5 ½ inches) and fifth in the hammer throw (127 feet).
Freshman Tara Clemens was third in the 800 (2:20.31) and sixth in the 1500 (4:51.51) while freshman Elise Anderson came in third in the 5000 with a time of 18:08.
Taylor Cordes got eighth place finishes in both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles with times of 15.84 seconds and 1:11.48, respectively.
The Titans women's 4x100 relay team was first with a time of 48.92 seconds while the 4x400 relay team was second (with a time of 3:58.96) to North Central (3:57.40).

Darien West claimed fourth with a toss of 167 feet-5 inches and Kindred Cook was seventh at a distance of 153 feet-9 inches in the hammer throw.
The IWU men's 4x400 relay team was fifth (3:24.69) and the 4x100 team placed sixth (44.43 seconds). 

Christine Nelson of Carthage was the CCIW women's "Field Athlete of the Meet" while North Central's Jake Austin and Matt Borchardt were the winners of the men's "Track Athlete of the Meet" and "Field Athlete of the Meet", respctively. The men's "Coaching Staff of the Year" was Augustana.

FIRST DAY RECAP

On Friday, senior Kerry Devitt finished second in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 37:35.43 and Kirstin Pufahl turned in a fifth place effort in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:59.50.

Senior Wally Farris was third in the men's 3000 steeplechase with his time of 9:33.51 and Alex Lambert was fourth with a pole vault height of 15 feet-5 inches.
